Here's a rare and very artfully conceived scenic micro beaded purse. I love how the gondola with its TWO gondoliers is the only subject, and the way the reflection of the boat is so naturally captured in the ripples on the water, as the gondoliers ply the canal, which is a very pretty emerald green. Because of the way the design is executed, there can be a lot of details in the boat itself. The frame (most certainly Italian) with its cherubs in the center and curlicues forming an arch shape, is silver, (though no mark can be found), perhaps coin 800 silver, and the chain is very nice and heavy. The fringe at the bottom matches the color tones of the purse, repeating the carmel brown of the gondola, with tips in emerald green like the water. The purse measures 9 1/2 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide. The design is the same on the other side. No beads are missing, condition is excellent. The back side seems to have had one tiny, and I do mean tiny repair in the opalescent bead sky, and there is a faint spot there. Repair was evidently professionally done, as it is barely noticeable. The inside lining is perfect, and is pale aqua silk with royal blue silk ribbon edging. $750 - Sold |
